Abstract
Rupture of the gravid uterus has been recognized as a serious and often tragic obstetric emergency posing a great threat to mother and child.
V4 ¢¥e experienced two cases of uterine rupture of the gravid uterus. one is the spontaneous rupture during second stage of labor due to neglected cephalopelvic disproportion. The patient had admitted to the hospital already in difficulty resulting in death of mother and child. Postmortem examination revealed a hematona within the left broad ligament and a transverse linear laceration at the left uterine wall 1 cm above the isthmus. The others occured during the second stage of labor due to unappropriate use of uterotonics in cephalopelvic disprotion. At lapdratomy, a dead male fetus weighing 4.3kg and an entire placenta escaped from the uterus with displacing the already involuted uterus left-posteriorly. A fresh -longitudinal laceration 10cm in length were found left lower anterior surface of the uterine corpus; Total hystrectomy with blood replacement was necessary to save the patient. The patient was discharged with good condition on postoperative seventh day.
